Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law establishes a comprehensive framework, and implementation and enforcement practice are still developing. That uncertainty is a reason to be conservative rather than a reason to wait.

Our position is the same as in every market: we do not collect or resell personal data. No national identity numbers, no personal identifiers, no reviewer names or profiles or histories.

What that means in scope

• Product, price, availability and shipping data from public pages sits outside the personal data question entirely.
• Seller identity and seller city are captured as business characteristics where displayed, which matters here because origin drives shipping cost.
• B2B contact data only where a lawful basis exists for your intended use, which we ask about before scoping.
• No credentialed access, no account creation, no client credentials.

We provide a written methodology document and a DPA before signature. Because implementation practice here is still settling, we would rather scope conservatively now than deliver something that needs unwinding later — and we will tell you which parts of a request we are declining and why.

Two structural features of Indonesian ecommerce change what a useful dataset contains, and neither is price.

Shipping is a matrix, not a cost

• Listings expose several courier options with materially different costs and lead times.
• Seller origin city drives it. The same item from a Jakarta seller and one on another island costs very differently to deliver.
• A cheaper item frequently costs more delivered, so item-price comparison misleads.

We capture the courier array with cost and lead time per option, plus minimum, maximum and total cost on the cheapest courier. We do not collapse it to one figure, because which courier a shopper picks depends on their urgency.

Payment method availability is a conversion field

Card penetration is lower than in Western markets, and a large share of transactions use bank transfer, virtual account, convenience store payment or cash on delivery. A listing without the buyer's preferred method is effectively unavailable to them regardless of price.

COD carries a caveat we state explicitly: refusal and return rates are higher, so stock returning to availability on a COD-heavy product is a weaker demand signal than usual. We flag COD separately for that reason.
