Web Scraping Services in South Korea

Under one of the strictest privacy regimes anywhere, which shapes what we will scope before we quote.

Actowiz Solutions provides managed web scraping services to Korean businesses across ecommerce, retail and market intelligence — with scope assessed against PIPA, Korean-language product matching handled as a first-class requirement, and platform-fulfilled offers separated from marketplace sellers on every record.

Korea combines a strict privacy statute with a retail market where the platform itself sets a large share of prices. Both change what a data engagement here should and should not include.

Free pilot on your own sources, returned in 24 hours. No card, no trial clock — and you keep the sample data either way.

Where we are

Actowiz Solutions has no Korean entity. Delivery runs from our development hub in Ahmedabad, India, contracted through our US office in Albany, New York — 350 Northern Blvd STE 324-1208, Albany, NY 12204-1000.

KST sits three and a half hours ahead of Ahmedabad, so a Korean morning standup lands inside our working day and same-day turnaround on collection issues is realistic. Contracts and documentation are in English. Korean-language contracting we cannot do, and if your procurement requires it we will say so on the first call rather than at signature.

What is different about working in South Korea

The compliance regime, the sources and the practicalities that shape how an engagement here is actually scoped.

Privacy regime
PIPA, among the strictest globally, with PIPC as supervisory authority
Our position
No personal data resale. No resident registration numbers, no personal identifiers, no reviewer profiles
Retail structure
Platform-fulfilled stock dominant, so seller mix carries less signal than elsewhere
Language
Hangul and Latin mixed in titles; cross-script normalisation is required, not optional
Currency
KRW authoritative, with FX rate and timestamp recorded for conversion
Support hours
KST business hours covered from Ahmedabad
Offices
Albany, New York and Ahmedabad, India — no Korean entity
Delivery
CSV, JSON, Parquet, REST API, cloud bucket or warehouse

Most requested services in South Korea

Ranked by how often South Korea clients ask for them, with the market reason behind each.

  1. Coupang data scraping →

Platform-fulfilled split and Korean text normalisation

  2. Pricing & product data →

Competitive price collection with cross-script identity

  3. Ecommerce data scraping →

Broader Korean and cross-border retail coverage

  4. Consumer electronics data →

A category where Korea sets global pricing signals

  5. Beauty & personal care data →

Shade-level collection for a large export category

  6. Seller & vendor data →

Marketplace seller monitoring for brand protection

These are the most common starting points, not a limit. All services are available in South Korea.

PIPA, and why our exclusions predate it

Korea's Personal Information Protection Act is among the strictest privacy regimes anywhere, with meaningful enforcement and a supervisory authority that has been active.

Our position is the same here as in every market, and it is not a response to PIPA: we do not collect or resell personal data. No resident registration numbers, no personal identifiers, no reviewer names or profiles or histories. Review text without the person attached, ratings without the reviewer.

What that means in scope

  • Product, price and availability data from public pages — the overwhelming majority of what clients need — sits outside the personal data question entirely.
  • Seller identity is captured as a business characteristic where displayed, not as an individual's details.
  • B2B contact data only where a lawful basis exists for your intended use, and we ask what that use is before scoping it.
  • No credentialed access. We do not create accounts or use client credentials to reach member pricing.

We provide a written methodology document and a DPA before signature. What we will not do is tell you an engagement is PIPA-compliant, because compliance depends on your purpose and your basis, not only on how the data was collected. We describe what we collect and how, precisely enough for your counsel to assess it.

Platform-fulfilled stock changes the competitive question

Most marketplace analysis assumes a competitive third-party seller set on each listing, making seller mix a rich signal. Korea's largest platform operates a substantial owned-fulfilment programme, so a large share of what shoppers buy is priced by the platform itself.

  • Price is frequently a platform decision, not a seller decision, so competitive response analysis is aimed at a different party.
  • Seller counts per listing are lower than on comparable marketplaces, so seller-mix metrics carry less signal — worth knowing before building an analysis on them.
  • For brands, the question shifts from who is undercutting me to how the platform is pricing my product.
  • Marketplace offers still matter for brand protection, but they are a smaller share of the picture.

Every record separates platform-fulfilled from seller-fulfilled and flags the winning offer, so the two questions stay answerable independently. Our Coupang service covers the mechanics in full.

Language handling is the second requirement. Korean product titles are long, mix Hangul with Latin brand and model terms, embed pack descriptors, and romanise inconsistently. Title matching fails, so we normalise across scripts with confidence scoring and flag uncertain matches rather than merging them.

The 24-hour sample — run on your sources, not ours

Before you commit to anything, we run collection against your own South Korea sources and send you the output. If the coverage is not there, the sample shows you that too — which is the point of running it first.

  • Real extraction from your actual sources
  • Returned within 24 hours
  • Coverage and QA note included
  • You keep the data either way
  • No card, no trial clock
  • Named engineer on the call

How we engage

Three ways to engage us

Same collection pipeline and QA underneath. The difference is who holds the schedule and how the data reaches you.

Managed service (most common)

We own the collection, the QA and the delivery. You receive clean data on a schedule and never touch a scraper.

  • Dedicated engineer assigned to your account
  • Site changes fixed by us, not reported to you
  • Scheduled delivery to your warehouse or S3
  • Named contact on Slack or email

Best fit: Teams who need the data, not the infrastructure.

API access

The same collection pipeline exposed as an authenticated REST endpoint your systems query directly.

  • On-demand and scheduled endpoints
  • Rate limits agreed to your load profile
  • Sandbox keys for integration testing
  • Versioned schema with deprecation notice

Best fit: Product and engineering teams building on live data.

One-time or project extraction

A defined pull for a specific question — market sizing, diligence, a pitch, a one-off audit.

  • Fixed scope agreed in writing upfront
  • Single delivery with full QA report
  • Methodology documented for your records
  • Converts to managed if you want continuity

Best fit: Research, strategy and diligence work with a deadline.

Pricing

Every engagement is quoted individually, because the honest answer depends on your scope: how many sources, how many records, how often, and how the data reaches you. We scope it with you, run a free pilot on your own sources, and then quote a fixed monthly figure — no per-request metering and no overage billing when volumes move. Request a quote and you will have a number after one call.

Service commitments are identical in every market

Pilot within 24 hours, production live in 5–10 business days, 99.5% on-schedule delivery measured monthly, source breakage triaged the same business day, schema validation plus sampled human QA on every run, a named engineer rather than a ticket queue, and full historical export on request with no exit fee. These are contractual and appear in the engagement document.

FAQ

Web scraping in South Korea: frequently asked questions

Including the questions about where we are based and how compliance is handled.

No, and we do not plan to. Delivery is from Ahmedabad with contracting through our US office.

The practical question is usually timezone rather than entity, and KST works well — three and a half hours ahead of Ahmedabad, so your morning lands inside our day. Where entity genuinely matters is procurement policy and Korean-language contracting, neither of which we can meet.

By not collecting personal data at all, which is our position in every market rather than a response to this one. No resident registration numbers, no personal identifiers, no reviewer profiles.

We provide a written methodology document and a DPA before signature. We will not certify an engagement as PIPA-compliant, because compliance depends on your purpose and lawful basis, not only on collection method. We describe what we collect precisely enough for your counsel to assess.

Because a large share of volume is priced and fulfilled by the platform rather than by third-party sellers. That means price is often a platform decision, and competitive response analysis is aimed at a different party than on other marketplaces.

It also means seller counts per listing are lower, so seller-mix metrics carry less signal. Better to know that before building an analysis on them.

Yes, with cross-script normalisation and confidence scoring. Titles mix Hangul with Latin brand terms, embed pack information and romanise inconsistently, so title matching fails.

We use transliteration, brand mapping in both scripts, model number extraction and attribute comparison. Uncertain matches are flagged rather than merged, because a wrong merge hides a genuine second product.

Yes. KRW stays authoritative on every record with the FX rate and timestamp stored alongside, and conversion is derived rather than baked in so you can recompute against any rate.

Cross-market comparison also needs the fulfilment split preserved, since a platform-set price and a seller-set price are not the same kind of observation.

We quote individually. Drivers are source count, category or SKU scope, whether full offer sets are required, whether cross-script matching is needed, and refresh frequency.

One scoping call where every source is classified feasible, partial or not feasible in writing, a free pilot within 24 hours, then a fixed monthly quote. Request a quote.
