Shopped as a real customer, in local currency, across every booking window
Most parity work stops at the OTA listing. The customer makes the decision on the metasearch comparison screen, where being absent costs more than being slightly more expensive.

How a hotel group found the leak was not where anyone was looking
The revenue team monitored parity through their channel manager, which compares the rate they pushed against the rate the OTA received. That check can only ever pass. Actowiz shopped every property as a customer, in local currency, across fourteen booking windows, for eight weeks. Real parity was seventeen points lower than reported. The dominant cause was not the OTA discounting its own margin — it was static wholesale allotments being repackaged and resold below the contracted rate, which no channel manager can see. Three wholesaler contracts were terminated on the evidence, and direct share moved from 24% to 31% in two quarters.
The most detailed parity study available for hotels and airlines — 9 OTAs, 3 metasearch engines and 14 booking windows across Dubai, London, Mumbai and New York. Built from 8 months of Actowiz customer-side rate shopping.
What revenue and distribution teams ask first
A channel manager compares the rate you sent against the rate the OTA received, so it can only ever confirm that the push worked. It cannot see a rate assembled from a wholesale allotment, bundled into a package and resold. Shopping as a customer is the only way to find those, and they are usually the majority of real breaches.
By comparing the offered rate against your contracted rates, the known wholesale allotment prices, package component pricing and member rate structures, then matching cancellation terms and inclusions. Most breaches carry a signature — a wholesale rate resold has different terms from an OTA discounting its own commission, and the two need completely different responses.
Because parity does not break evenly across the curve. It typically holds well at 60 days out and collapses inside 7 days, when OTAs discount to clear unsold allotment and wholesalers dump inventory they are about to lose. A single average parity number hides that entirely, and the late window is where the highest-value bookings sit.
Yes. The same method applies — shopping fares as a customer across OTAs and metasearch against your own site, by route and by booking window. Airline parity breaks differ in character: consolidator fares and corporate rate leakage matter more than wholesale, but the tracing approach is the same.
That is what most clients use it for. Every breach is captured with a timestamped screenshot, the point of sale, the currency, the device type and the full rate breakdown including taxes and cancellation terms. Clients have used those packs to terminate wholesale contracts and to renegotiate commission.
Both. You get the live dashboard, a REST API for your revenue management system, daily CSV or Parquet exports, and alerts when a breach exceeds a threshold on a property or route you care about. Evidence packs are attached to every breach record in the export.
Send us ten properties or ten routes. We will shop them as a customer across every channel and booking window for a week, and send back a breach report with sources traced — free, no commitment.
