559-Product Store Migration with Full Image Assets

A home-furnishings retailer replatforming from a legacy store with no usable database export.

The Challenge

The old platform could export a product list, but not descriptions, dimensions, category structure, or — critically — the 1–8 product images attached to each item. The images existed only as URLs inside the rendered pages. Rebuilding 559 products by hand meant 200+ hours of copy-paste and image-saving.

Objectives

• Extract all 559 products with full descriptions, dimensions and category
• Download every product image into a per-product folder
• Deliver in an import-ready format for the new platform

The Actowiz Approach

A crawler walked the full category tree, capturing product pages and extracting structured fields including the long-form HTML description (preserved, not flattened, since formatting mattered to the client).

For images, we resolved every asset URL — including lazy-loaded and srcset variants, picking the highest available resolution — and downloaded them into folders named by product SKU. A verification pass confirmed each product's image count matched the source page, catching the handful of products where a gallery had failed to load on first fetch.
