Revenue and distribution teams in travel make pricing calls every day with partial information. A hotel group sees its own rates but not how each OTA is displaying them. A cruise line knows its fares but not how agencies and competitors are pricing a comparable balcony cabin on the same week of sailing.
Hotel and cruise pricing data is a structured, recurring feed of publicly displayed room rates, cruise cabin fares, availability and review signals, collected from OTAs, metasearch, cruise line sites and review platforms. Enterprise teams use it to monitor rate parity, benchmark competitors, and adjust pricing by date, channel and market.
This guide covers what the feeds contain, which channels and countries matter, how fresh the data must be, and what to ask any provider about QA, SLA, security and usage rights. It is written for revenue management, distribution and pricing teams at hotel groups, cruise lines, OTAs and tour operators.
Travel pricing is dynamic, multi-channel and date-specific. The same room or cabin can show a different price on five channels, in three currencies, with different taxes and inclusions. Without a clean external feed of hotel and cruise pricing data, teams rely on manual spot checks that miss most of the grid.
Demand is also growing. CLIA's 2026 State of the Cruise Industry report recorded 37.2 million cruise passengers in 2025, up from 34.6 million in 2024. More sailings and more distribution partners mean more prices to watch. In Europe, Booking.com's designation as a DMA gatekeeper in May 2024 has kept rate parity clauses under scrutiny, so hotels need their own evidence of how rates appear across channels.
Typical users of hotel and cruise pricing data:
Most enterprise hotel and cruise pricing data projects combine four feeds. Each has its own schema, because a hotel night and a cruise cabin are not priced the same way.
Hotel rates and rate parity. Displayed rate per room type and rate plan, by stay date, length of stay, occupancy, channel and point of sale. Parity checks compare each OTA and metasearch result against the direct rate.
Cruise itineraries and cabin pricing. Ship, sailing date, ports of call, duration and cabin category, with per-person fares on a stated occupancy basis. Guarantee cabins, solo supplements, taxes and port fees, and promotional inclusions are captured separately.
Availability. Sold-out vs available status per room type or cabin category, minimum-stay restrictions, and how availability changes as departure or arrival approaches.
Reviews and ratings. Overall and sub-scores, review counts, review text and dates from OTAs and review platforms, at property or ship level. Reviewer personal data is not collected.
The table below shows sample fields for each feed. Field names follow the snake_case convention used in our deliveries.
| Feed | Sample fields | Typical cadence |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel rates & parity | property_id, channel, pos_country, stay_date, los, room_type, rate_plan, board_basis, cancellation_policy, display_price, taxes_fees, currency, parity_gap_pct, captured_at | Daily; intraday for key dates |
| Cruise itinerary & cabin pricing | cruise_line, ship, sailing_id, departure_date, nights, ports_of_call, cabin_category, occupancy_basis, fare_per_person, taxes_port_fees, guarantee_flag, promo_inclusions, captured_at | Daily; sub-daily in promo windows |

Coverage should follow where your guests actually book. A European resort group needs a different channel mix from an India-focused chain or a US-based cruise line. The table shows common channel types by region; final source lists are agreed during scoping.
| Channel type | Examples | Regions where it matters most | What to capture |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global OTAs | Booking.com, Expedia (incl. Hotels.com), Agoda | EU/UK, US, Southeast Asia, GCC | Rates by POS, member/app rates where publicly shown, room and rate plan |
| Regional OTAs | MakeMyTrip, Trip.com, regional players by market | India, China outbound, APAC | Local currency rates, tax display, regional promotions |
| Metasearch | Google Hotels, Trivago | Global | Price position per channel, lowest displayed rate |
| Hotel direct sites | Brand.com booking engines | All | Direct rate baseline for parity |
| Cruise line sites | Major ocean and river cruise lines | US, UK, Germany, Australia | Sailing, cabin category, fare per person, promos |
| Cruise OTAs & agencies | Online cruise agencies and comparison sites | US, UK, Europe | Agency fare vs line fare, added perks |
| Review platforms | Tripadvisor, Google, OTA review sections | Global | Ratings, counts, review text, dates |
Point of sale matters. The same property can show a different rate to a visitor in the UK, the UAE and India, so coverage is defined as channel × country of sale × currency, not just channel. Country and channel coverage for your scope.
Freshness should match the decision, not the maximum a provider can run. Over-frequent collection raises cost without improving decisions.
Historical depth starts from the first capture date of your feed. Where Actowiz holds archived hotel rate data for a market, it can be scoped separately. For flights, Actowiz supplies live fares only; historical airfare backfills are not offered.
Raw prices are not comparable until they are normalised. A reliable pipeline follows these steps:
Procurement and data teams usually ask the same questions before signing a hotel and cruise pricing data contract. Use this table as a checklist when you compare providers.
| Requirement | What to ask | Actowiz answer |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery format | CSV, JSON/JSONL, Excel, API, cloud bucket? | CSV, JSON, Excel, REST API, S3 / Azure / GCS delivery |
| Delivery schedule | When does each file land, in which time zone? | Pending |
| SLA | What happens if a run fails or a source changes? | Pending |
| Completeness | How are missing dates or blocked captures reported? | Pending |
| QA | Automated and manual checks? Sample audit? | Pending |
| Change handling | How fast are site changes fixed? | Pending |
| Sample | Can we test on our own properties/sailings first? | Pending |
| Security | Access control, encryption, NDA? | Pending |

Building in-house works for a few properties on one or two channels. At enterprise scale – hundreds of properties or sailings, many points of sale and daily runs – the cost sits in entity mapping, source maintenance and QA rather than in the scraper itself.
When you compare providers, ask for a sample on your own properties or sailings, a written field dictionary, a completeness report and a named escalation contact. Avoid anyone promising "100% accuracy" or unlimited coverage; travel sites change often and good providers report gaps openly.
