UAE online grocery market 2026: talabat mart, noon Minutes, Careem Quik, Amazon Now, Carrefour and Lulu compared on prices and delivery.
The UAE online grocery market 2026 is defined by speed and scale. talabat, noon, Careem and Amazon now promise grocery delivery in about 15 to 30 minutes, while Carrefour, Lulu and Spinneys grow their own apps. Spinneys made 17% of 2025 sales online, and talabat's grocery and retail GMV grew 45% in Q4 2025.
That mix of delivery apps and supermarket apps makes the UAE one of the most crowded grocery markets online. The same basket can be bought from a dark store, a hypermarket, a premium grocer or a marketplace, each with different prices, fees, ranges and delivery times.
This report brings together cited public figures and the data signals Actowiz tracks for UAE grocery clients. Fees, minimum orders and product counts are taken from cited sources; other table values are marked "Est." – indicative ranges, not measured results – and will be replaced by measured values from Actowiz's collection. We do not quote a single market-size figure, because published third-party estimates for UAE online grocery vary widely and we could not reconcile them.
UAE online grocery has moved from scheduled weekly deliveries to on-demand baskets in under a decade. Each new entrant has pushed the delivery promise shorter and the store network denser.
Instashop, founded in Dubai in 2015, built a marketplace linking shoppers to local grocers. talabat launched its own grocery service in Dubai in early 2020 and rebranded it talabat mart, promising orders in 30 minutes or less at the time (Gulf News). talabat agreed in September 2024 to buy Instashop from its parent Delivery Hero for USD 32 million and completed the deal in February 2025 (Economy Middle East; Gulf Business).
From 2025 the race moved to 15 minutes. noon and ADNOC Distribution announced a partnership on 23 April 2025 to place noon Minutes fulfilment hubs inside ADNOC service stations (ADNOC Distribution). Amazon launched Amazon Now in the UAE on 22 October 2025 (Gulf Business).
| Year | Sourced milestone | Relevance for grocery data |
|---|---|---|
| 2015 | Instashop founded in Dubai (Economy Middle East) | Marketplace model: many grocers, many price lists |
| 2020 | talabat mart launched in Dubai, 30-minute promise (Gulf News) | Start of dark-store grocery in the UAE |
| 2024 | talabat agrees to acquire Instashop for USD 32 million; deal completed February 2025 (Economy Middle East; Gulf Business) | Two grocery models under one group |
| April 2025 | noon and ADNOC Distribution partnership for noon Minutes (ADNOC Distribution) | Fuel-station sites become grocery hubs |
| October 2025 | Amazon Now launches with 15-minute delivery (Gulf Business) | Global player joins the 15-minute race |
| 2026 | talabat plans more than USD 100 million investment in talabat mart (talabat) | More stores, more SKUs to track |
The UAE has three types of online grocery platform: delivery apps with their own dark stores, marketplaces that list partner shops, and supermarket groups selling through their own apps. Most large retailers also sell through the delivery apps, so the same brand can appear in several places.
talabat is the largest listed delivery platform in the region. It reported FY2025 GMV of USD 9.5 billion across its markets, and grocery and retail GMV of USD 788 million in Q4 2025, up 45% and 32% of the total (talabat FY2025 results). These figures cover all talabat countries, not just the UAE.
Each platform below was checked against a public source today. Kibsons is a long-established UAE food importer that sells fresh produce online, and Waitrose in the UAE is operated by Spinneys under a franchise (ESM Magazine).
| Platform | Operator | Model | Notes from public sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| talabat mart | talabat | Own dark stores | Grocery vertical of the region's largest delivery app |
| Instashop | talabat | Marketplace of partner grocers | Operates in the UAE and Egypt |
| noon Minutes | noon | Own hubs, incl. ADNOC sites | Part of the noon app |
| Careem Quik | Careem | Own dark stores | Dubai and Abu Dhabi; 12,000+ products |
| Amazon Now | Amazon.ae | Own fast-delivery sites | Groceries, fresh, electronics, personal care |
| Carrefour UAE | Majid Al Futtaim | Hypermarket app, express service | Also sold through delivery apps – e.g. Carrefour stores listed on talabat UAE (checked 8 October 2026) |
| Lulu | Lulu Retail | Hypermarket app | Pan-GCC retailer with 267 stores |
| Spinneys and Waitrose | Spinneys | Premium supermarket app | Waitrose under franchise |
| Kibsons | Kibsons | Fresh produce e-commerce | Importer and distributor |
Most UAE quick commerce apps now publicly promise delivery in about 15 minutes in covered areas, while supermarket apps promise 60 minutes, same day or scheduled slots. The promise is a marketing claim, so actual delivery times should be measured, not assumed.
Careem says Quik delivers across Dubai and Abu Dhabi in 15 minutes with more than 12,000 products (Careem blog). Amazon Now launched with delivery in as little as 15 minutes, 24/7, and free delivery for Prime members on orders above AED 25 (Gulf Business). Redseer describes noon Minutes as fulfilling within 15 minutes (Redseer).
Supermarket groups compete on range and price rather than pure speed. Carrefour's 24/7 express service in Dubai promised delivery within 60 minutes on more than 10,000 products at standard hypermarket prices (Arabian Business), and Kibsons has described its service as free same-day delivery (ADSME Hub).
| Platform | Stated delivery promise | Source and date | Measured by Actowiz (indicative) |
|---|---|---|---|
| noon Minutes | Within 15 minutes | Redseer, April 2025; ADNOC Distribution, April 2025 | Est. 15–25 min |

| Instashop | Typically 30–60 minutes, by store and traffic | Property Finder, March 2026 | Est. 30–60 min |
| Lulu | Quick delivery "in minutes" plus scheduled slots (no minute figure stated) | LuLu Hypermarket app listing, App Store (checked October 2026) | Est. 30–90 min or scheduled |

Online is now a meaningful share of sales for UAE supermarket groups, and it is growing faster than their stores. The population is highly connected, so app-based shopping reaches almost every household.
The UAE population was 11,294,243 in 2024 according to the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, as compiled by the Gulf Research Center (confirmed in FCSC figures reported by Gulf News). DataReportal's Digital 2026 report puts internet penetration at 99%, with 23 million active mobile connections (MENA Startup Digest on DataReportal); figures confirmed on DataReportal's own report page.
Retailer results show the shift. Spinneys reported 2025 revenue of AED 3.6 billion, with online at 17.0% of sales, up from 14.1% (ESM Magazine). Lulu's online sales grew 38.6% in 2025, reaching 7.3% of retail sales (Gulf News). Both cover several GCC countries, not only the UAE.

A fair price comparison uses the same product, pack size and delivery area on every platform at the same time. UAE grocery adds extra complexity because many products are imported, and pack sizes and origins differ between retailers.
Actowiz builds a fixed basket of common items – dairy, bread, fresh produce, rice, cooking oil, beverages, snacks, baby care and household – and matches products by brand, name, size and country of origin. Each record holds list price, selling price in AED, promotion label, unit price and stock status.
The table below shows indicative values for this basket. They are estimates based on published platform information, not measured results, and will be replaced with dataset values for a stated collection window.
| Category | Data signal | Finding 1 – basket price index (Carrefour = 100) (indicative) |
|---|---|---|
| Dairy and bread | AED price per litre or loaf | Est. Carrefour 100 · Lulu 97 · talabat mart 103 · noon Minutes 102 · Spinneys 110 |

Planned collection scope for the measured version of this report: Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, about 20 delivery areas, about 300 matched SKUs, 30-day window with peak and off-peak runs.
Range and stock matter as much as price in the UAE, because 15-minute apps carry far fewer products than a hypermarket. A brand that is missing from a dark store loses the shopper to whatever is in stock.
Order data from the platforms hints at how varied baskets are. Gulf News reported more than 620,000 laban orders placed through talabat mart in 2025, while Careem Quik's largest single grocery order reached AED 4,600 (Gulf News).
Promotions follow the retail calendar – Ramadan, Eid, back to school, National Day and the Dubai Shopping Festival – and differ between delivery apps and supermarket apps.
| Signal | What it shows | Finding 2 to Finding 4 – value by platform (indicative) |
|---|---|---|
| SKUs listed per category | Range depth (Finding 2) | Careem Quik 12,000+ products (Careem); Carrefour express 10,000+ (ESM Magazine); est. 20,000+ on full hypermarket apps |
| Out-of-stock rate at peak hours | Availability (Finding 3) | Est. 4–8% on quick commerce apps; 2–5% on hypermarket apps |
| Share of SKUs on promotion | Promotion intensity (Finding 4) | Est. 20–35% of SKUs; higher during Ramadan and DSF |
| Average discount depth | How aggressive offers are (Finding 4) | Est. 15–25% |
| Private-label share | Retailer-owned range | Est. 8–15% on Carrefour and Lulu; 1–4% on quick commerce apps |
| Arabic and English listing match | Catalogue quality | Est. 85–95% of listings with matching Arabic and English names |
Competitive position combines price, delivery speed, fees, range and visibility into one view per brand and platform. No single public source provides this, so it has to be built from shelf-level data.
Fees change which app is cheapest. Minimum order values, delivery fees, service fees and membership benefits such as Prime, Careem Plus or talabat Pro alter the final cost of a small basket. Actowiz records fees as displayed for a test basket in each area, without logging into shopper accounts or placing orders.
| Measure | Why it matters | Finding 5 / Finding 6 – value by platform (indicative) |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery fee and minimum order | True cost of small baskets | Finding 5: Careem Quik minimum order AED 30 (Careem); Amazon Now free for Prime above AED 25 (Gulf Business); standard fee noon Minutes AED 5, talabat mart AED 7 (Actowiz, Feb 2026) |
| Service or small-basket fees | Hidden cost per order | Finding 5: Careem service fee 4% in Dubai and 3% for Quik in Abu Dhabi, AED 0.95–3.95 (Careem); others est. AED 1–4 |
| Coverage by area (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, northern emirates) | Where each app competes | Finding 6: talabat mart in all seven emirates (Actowiz, Feb 2026); est. Dubai and Abu Dhabi covered by all major apps, Sharjah by most |
| Share of search for top brands | Brand visibility | Finding 6: Est. top 3 brands hold 40–60% of first-page results in core categories |
| Final basket cost (price + fees) | Cheapest platform overall | Finding 6: Est. hypermarket apps cheapest for large baskets; quick commerce apps 3–8% higher after fees on baskets under AED 100 |
Actowiz collects publicly visible product, price, stock and delivery data from UAE grocery platforms and turns it into matched datasets, reports and dashboards.
The UAE online grocery market in 2026 is fast, crowded and still growing. Delivery apps promise 15-minute baskets, supermarket groups are moving a larger share of sales online, and new players such as Amazon Now keep raising the bar on speed.
For brands, retailers and investors, the real story sits at shelf level: who is cheapest for a typical basket, who keeps key products in stock, how fees change the final cost, and whether delivery promises hold. Download the full report or request a sample UAE grocery dataset to see the 2026 findings.
The main platforms include talabat mart and Instashop (both talabat), noon Minutes, Careem Quik, Amazon Now, and supermarket apps from Carrefour UAE, Lulu, Spinneys, Waitrose and Kibsons.
noon Minutes, Careem Quik and Amazon Now publicly promise around 15 minutes in covered areas. Supermarket apps typically offer 60-minute express, same-day or scheduled slots. Actual times vary by area and hour.
Yes. Spinneys made 17.0% of its 2025 sales online, up from 14.1%, and Lulu's online sales grew 38.6% in 2025. talabat's grocery and retail GMV grew 45% in Q4 2025 across its markets.
Each platform sets its own prices, promotions, fees and minimum orders, and marketplaces show different prices for each partner store. Pack sizes and product origins also differ, so accurate comparison needs product matching.
Collecting publicly visible business data such as listed prices is common practice, but site terms and UAE law apply. Actowiz collects public data only, avoids personal data and shopper logins, and recommends legal review for each use case.
