Black Friday 2026 discounts preview: expected % ranges by category for the UK, EU and US, built from cited 2024–2025 studies.
Black Friday 2026 discounts will likely run deeper in the US than in the UK or EU. Expect US peak markdowns of about 18–31% off list price, versus average discounts of 5–21% across tracked UK SKUs and 3–16% in Germany, with electronics and apparel leading (Estimate / forecast based on Adobe, DataWeave and idealo data cited below).
Black Friday falls on 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday on 30 November 2026. This preview pulls together what retailers, analysts and consumer groups published about the last two seasons. It turns that evidence into expected category ranges for the UK, the EU and the US. Every range below is labelled as an estimate and linked to its sources, because none of it is Actowiz tracked data yet.
We lead with the UK and Europe on purpose. Our separate Holiday 2026 US Retail Price War Report covers the US in depth, so here the US appears only as a benchmark. Retail media teams, brand pricing teams and analysts can use the tables to set expectations, plan budgets and check claims once the sale starts.
The short answer: the same categories lead everywhere, but the depth differs by region and by how the number is measured. US figures from Adobe are peak discounts off list price on the deepest day. UK and German figures from DataWeave and idealo are average discounts across thousands of tracked SKUs. A 30% US peak and a 10% German average can both be true for the same TV.
The table below shows our expected ranges for Black Friday 2026 discounts. Where two sources disagree, we show the full spread rather than picking a winner. The final column is reserved for the median we will measure during the sale.

Expected Black Friday 2026 discounts. All ranges: Estimate / forecast based on the sources in brackets (see Sources list). Measurement bases differ by column – do not compare columns directly. Not Actowiz data.
Two patterns stand out. First, electronics is the only category that sits near the top in all three regions. Second, apparel and beauty swing the most between sources. That is because fashion and beauty brands often run sitewide codes that SKU-level trackers capture differently from checkout-based datasets.
UK discounts have edged up but stay shallow next to the US. Adobe put the average UK online discount over the 2024 holiday season at 7.3%, with computers peaking at 12.2% and electronics at 9.3% [5]. For the four days from Black Friday to Cyber Monday 2025, an industry summary citing Adobe reported £3.8bn of online spend and an average discount of 16.7% across retail categories [6].
DataWeave tracked 71,642 UK SKUs in 2025 and found apparel discounted most before Black Friday, at 17.2%, with a further 3.5% during Black Friday week [7]. Health and beauty showed the largest in-week step-up, at 6.1%. Grocery stayed shallow at 5.7% before the event.
Demand held up even as shoppers grew sceptical. Barclays said Black Friday 2025 was the busiest card day of the year so far, with transactions up 62% on the average day [11]. PwC forecast £6.4bn of UK Black Friday spend, with technology (48%) and fashion (38%) the most-planned categories [10].

| Adobe UK [5] | Holiday 2024 | Average online discount | 7.3% (7.0% in 2023) |
| Adobe UK [5] | Holiday 2024 | Peak discount – computers / electronics | 12.2% / 9.3% |
| IGDS citing Adobe [6] | BF–CM 2025 | Average discount, all categories | 16.7% |

UK expectation for Black Friday 2026 discounts: an average of roughly 15–21% across discounted apparel, 10–17% on electronics and computers, and single digits on grocery. Estimate / forecast based on Adobe [5, 6] and DataWeave [7].
Germany is a value market, and Black Friday 2026 discounts there should stay shallow on average. DataWeave's 2025 tracking of 16,653 German SKUs found an average pre-Black Friday discount of 7%, with consumer electronics highest at around 9.3–9.4% [8]. An idealo study of 9,733 products found a real average saving of about 6% on Black Friday 2024 versus October, rising to up to 16% for electronics such as TVs and speakers [13].
Spending is flattening. The German retail association HDE forecast €5.8bn for Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2025, its first forecast decline since 2016 at just under 2% [12]. Electronics also started from a lower base: Destatis data reported by The Local showed TV prices 10.6% lower in October 2025 than a year earlier [14].
Across Southern Europe and Benelux, consumer groups focus on deal quality. Euroconsumers reported that only 30% of 40,000 electronics deals tracked in Belgium were genuine bargains, while Portuguese shoppers expected 26–36% off [15]. In fashion, Lectra's Retviews data showed premium brands such as GANNI and Tommy Hilfiger starting seasonal sales on 24 October 2025, earlier than in 2024 [16].
| Market / signal | Published figure | Implication for 2026 | Label |
|---|---|---|---|
| Germany – all categories | 7% avg pre-BF (DataWeave 2025); ~6% real saving (idealo 2024) | Expect 6–7% average across all SKUs | Estimate / forecast based on [8, 13] |
| Germany – electronics | 9.3–9.4% avg (DataWeave); up to 16% (idealo) | Expect 9–16% | Estimate / forecast based on [8, 13] |
| Germany – health & beauty | 10.0% pre-BF, 4.5% BF week (DataWeave) | Expect 5–10%, front-loaded | Estimate / forecast based on [8] |
| Germany – spend | €5.8bn, about -2% (HDE 2025 forecast) | Flat to slightly lower volume | Estimate / forecast based on [12] |
| Belgium – electronics deal quality | 30% of 40,000 deals genuine | Most headline deals need checking | Estimate / forecast based on [15] |
| Portugal – shopper expectation | 26–36% expected off | Gap between hopes and real averages | Estimate / forecast based on [15] |
EU discount ranges for 2026 are estimates; they are not Actowiz data.
For the Netherlands, France, Italy and Spain we found no published category-level discount averages for 2025, so we do not forecast Black Friday 2026 discounts for them yet. We will add those markets when tracked data is available: Example only — 8–14% (not measured).
Headline percentages and real savings are different numbers. Which? tracked 175 products across eight UK retailers for a year and found that 83% were the same price or cheaper at least once outside the Black Friday sales window [9]. In Germany, idealo found 56% of products were cheaper on another November day than on Black Friday itself [13].
EU rules narrow the gap. Article 6a of the Price Indication Directive, added by the Omnibus Directive, requires a trader announcing a price reduction to show the prior price – the lowest price in at least the previous 30 days [20]. In September 2024 the Court of Justice confirmed in case C-330/23 (Aldi Süd) that the advertised percentage itself must be calculated from that 30-day lowest price [19].
For anyone comparing Black Friday 2026 discounts across regions, this matters a great deal. An EU discount measured against the 30-day low will look smaller than a US discount measured against list price. Comparing regions without adjusting for the reference price exaggerates the transatlantic gap.
| Reference price used | Typical where | Effect on headline % | How we will measure it |
|---|---|---|---|
| List price / RRP / UVP | US marketplaces; brand sites | Largest headline discounts | Sale price vs list price, flagged as 'list-based' |
| Lowest price in prior 30 days | EU (Article 6a, CJEU C-330/23) | Smaller, more realistic discounts | Sale price vs scraped 30-day low |
| Pre-season baseline (e.g. October median) | Independent trackers and consumer groups | Smallest; strips out pre-sale inflation | Sale price vs October median per SKU |
Based on Omnibus guidance [20], CJEU ruling [19], Which? [9] and idealo [13] methodologies.
Black Friday 2026 discounts are likely to build in steps, and the season now starts in October. Amazon ran Prime Big Deal Days on 6–7 October 2026 across 22 countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Poland [21]. That event sets an early price benchmark that November deals will be judged against.
Adobe's 2026 US forecast expects discounts of up to 14% in early November, up to 21% just before Thanksgiving, and up to 30% during Cyber Week, easing to 10–15% in December [1]. It expects electronics and computers to bottom out on Cyber Monday and toys, TVs and apparel on Black Friday. DataWeave's UK and German windows show the same shape, with a pre-event discount layer and a smaller in-week top-up [7, 8].
| Window (2026) | US expected peak | UK / EU signal | Label |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6–7 Oct (Prime Big Deal Days) | Early benchmark | Early benchmark in 22 countries | Published dates [21] |
| 1–15 Nov | Up to 14% | Pre-BF layer (UK apparel ~17%; DE ~7% avg) | Estimate / forecast based on [1, 7, 8] |
| 16–25 Nov | Up to 21% | Deals widen; fashion sales already live | Estimate / forecast based on [1, 16] |
| 26 Nov – 30 Nov (Cyber Week) | Up to 30% | In-week top-up of ~1–6 points | Estimate / forecast based on [1, 7] |
| December | 10–15% | Post-event prices often equal or lower | Estimate / forecast based on [1, 9] |
Expected timing of Black Friday 2026 discounts; estimates are labelled per row.
Spend is still growing, but slowly, and average selling prices are rising. Salesforce reported global Cyber Week 2025 spend of $336.6bn, up 7%, with average selling price up 6% [18]. Adobe forecasts US Cyber Week 2026 at $47.5bn, up 7.4% [1]. Higher prices plus modest discounts mean volume growth is thin.
For retail media buyers, the days with the deepest Black Friday 2026 discounts are also the most expensive ad days. Knowing which categories are likely to discount most helps match spend to days when conversion lifts. For brands, the biggest risk is unauthorised sellers undercutting the price floor on marketplaces, and the Buy Box moving with them.
| Buyer | Metric to watch | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Retail media teams | Median discount by category and day | Align bids with the days that discount most |
| Brand pricing teams | Price vs 30-day low; MAP/MSRP breaches | Spot Omnibus risk and reseller undercutting |
| Category managers | Share of SKUs discounted | Separates broad events from a few hero deals |
| Analysts and journalists | Effective discount vs October baseline | Tests whether 'record discounts' hold up |
| Supply / ops teams | Stock-outs on promoted SKUs | Shows where demand outran inventory |
The evidence points to a familiar pattern for Black Friday 2026 discounts: electronics, toys and apparel lead, discounts start in October, and the gap between advertised and real savings stays wide. The US will post the biggest headline numbers. The UK and EU will post smaller averages that are often more honest, thanks to the 30-day prior-price rule.

Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November 2026. Many retailers start earlier; Amazon ran Prime Big Deal Days on 6–7 October 2026 in 22 countries.
Electronics is the most consistent leader. Adobe forecasts US electronics at up to 30% off list on Cyber Monday, while UK and German averages across tracked SKUs sit near 9–17%. These are estimates based on published 2024–2026 sources.
Yes on headline numbers. Part of the gap is measurement: EU retailers must calculate discounts from the lowest price of the previous 30 days, while US figures are usually measured against list price.
Often not. Which? found 83% of 175 tracked UK products were the same price or cheaper at another time, and idealo found 56% of products cheaper on another November day in Germany.
