GetYourGuide Data Scraping

The same tour at nine in the morning and two in the afternoon is two different things to sell, and frequently two different prices.

GetYourGuide data scraping collects tours, activities and experiences with pricing and availability. The unit that makes this category distinct: the record is a departure timeslot on a given date, not a product. The same activity at different times of day can carry different prices, sell out independently, and in some cases be run by different operators.

Treat an activity as a product with a price and you will average timeslots that are commercially separate. The timeslot is the thing being sold.

Free pilot on your own GetYourGuide list, returned in 24 hours. No card, no trial clock — and you keep the sample data either way.

Platform specifics

What a timeslot-based inventory needs

These are the reasons a GetYourGuide dataset needs its own handling rather than a shared retail schema.

The timeslot is the unit, and the tiers sit under it

An activity listing looks like a product page with a price. Underneath it is a set of departures, each of which is sold separately.

  • Different times of day can carry different prices, particularly where one slot is more popular.
  • They sell out independently. A morning departure being full says nothing about the afternoon.
  • Availability is per slot, so an activity marked available may have only one usable departure left.

And beneath the slot sit pricing tiers: adult, child, infant, senior, group and sometimes family. A single "price" field averages tiers a booker chooses between.

We deliver one record per activity × date × timeslot × price_tier, which is a large grid and is the honest shape of this inventory.

Language is a product dimension

A guided tour offered in English and in Spanish is two separately bookable things with separate availability, and frequently separate prices. language is on every record rather than treated as an attribute of the listing.

Operator-supplied inventory, and what that means for the data

GetYourGuide lists activities that third-party operators run. The platform is the distribution channel, not the provider.

  • The operator sets the price, in the same way a marketplace merchant does.
  • The same activity frequently appears on several platforms, sometimes at different prices.
  • Inclusions differ between similar-looking listings from different operators — entry tickets, transfers and guiding are not always bundled the same way.

operator_name is recorded as a commercial entity. price_setter is operator. And inclusions are captured as published text with inclusions_parsed: false, because the wording varies too much between operators to structure reliably without inventing categories.

What we will not do

Match two operators' activities as equivalent. Two walking tours of the same site with similar durations may differ in group size, guide language, entry inclusion and route. We record them separately and do not assert equivalence — the same position as substitutes on our foodservice page.

Cancellation windows, and what is not published

Cancellation is part of the offer

Free cancellation up to 24 hours and a non-refundable booking are different products at the same price. We capture cancellation_window_hours and refundable as structured fields rather than leaving them in description text.

A price comparison that ignores them compares a flexible booking against a restricted one, which is the same error as comparing hotel rate plans on headline price.

What we do not produce

  • Bookings, revenue or how many places sold. Not published.
  • Capacity, unless the listing states it. A slot showing as available does not reveal how many places remain.
  • Reviewer identities. Review counts and ratings only.

Where a listing displays a scarcity message, we capture the message as displayed text and do not treat it as a capacity figure. It is a merchandising signal, not an inventory count.

Scope

What we collect on GetYourGuide, and what we do not

The right column matters more than the left. Anyone can list fields; the limits are what tell you whether the dataset will hold up.

✅ What we collect

  • One record per activity, date, timeslot and price tier
  • Language on every record, since a tour in two languages is two products
  • operator_name and price_setter recorded
  • Inclusions as published text, with inclusions_parsed false
  • Cancellation window and refundable as structured fields
  • Per-slot availability, distinct from activity-level availability
  • Duration, meeting point and group size where published
  • Review counts and ratings, without reviewer identity
  • Scarcity messages captured as displayed text, not as capacity

❌ What we do not, and why

  • A single activity price averaging timeslots and tiers
  • Two operators' activities asserted as equivalent
  • A scarcity message treated as a capacity figure
  • Bookings, revenue or places sold
  • Operator contact details or reviewer identities

Core GetYourGuide fields

The full dictionary is agreed during scoping. These are the fields specific to this platform.

Field What it is on this platform
activity_id / activity_title / city The listing and where it runs
activity_date / timeslot The unit. Slots sell independently
price_tier / price / currency Adult, child, group and so on — each its own record
language A product dimension, not an attribute
operator_name / price_setter Who runs it and who prices it
inclusions_text / inclusions_parsed As published, and flagged unparsed
cancellation_window_hours / refundable Structured, not left in description text
slot_available Per slot, distinct from activity-level availability
duration_minutes / group_size_max Where published
scarcity_message As displayed. Not a capacity figure
review_count / rating Values only
Use cases

What teams do with GetYourGuide data

Timeslot-level price and availability tracking

One record per slot and tier, so pricing and sell-through patterns across times of day are visible rather than averaged into an activity-level figure.

Cross-platform operator pricing

Operator recorded as the price setter, so the same operator's activity across several distribution platforms can be compared where you also collect those.

Destination supply mapping

What is offered in a city, by whom, at what price tiers and in which languages — which is the supply picture a destination or operator needs.

Cancellation-adjusted comparison

Refundability and cancellation windows as structured fields, so a flexible booking is not compared against a restricted one on headline price.

How we engage

Three ways to engage us

Same collection pipeline and QA underneath. The difference is who holds the schedule and how the data reaches you.

Managed service (most common)

We own the collection, the QA and the delivery. You receive clean data on a schedule and never touch a scraper.

  • Dedicated engineer assigned to your account
  • Site changes fixed by us, not reported to you
  • Scheduled delivery to your warehouse or S3
  • Named contact on Slack or email

Best fit: Teams who need the data, not the infrastructure.

API access

The same collection pipeline exposed as an authenticated REST endpoint your systems query directly.

  • On-demand and scheduled endpoints
  • Rate limits agreed to your load profile
  • Sandbox keys for integration testing
  • Versioned schema with deprecation notice

Best fit: Product and engineering teams building on live data.

One-time or project extraction

A defined pull for a specific question — market sizing, diligence, a pitch, a one-off audit.

  • Fixed scope agreed in writing upfront
  • Single delivery with full QA report
  • Methodology documented for your records
  • Converts to managed if you want continuity

Best fit: Research, strategy and diligence work with a deadline.

Pricing

Every engagement is quoted individually, because the honest answer depends on your scope: how many sources, how many records, how often, and how the data reaches you. We scope it with you, run a free pilot on your own sources, and then quote a fixed monthly figure — no per-request metering and no overage billing when volumes move. Request a quote and you will have a number after one call.

GetYourGuide is usually collected alongside its competitors

Almost nobody buys a single platform in isolation. GetYourGuide data becomes useful when it sits next to the competitor set on one schema, refreshed on one schedule, so a price index or availability comparison is genuinely like-for-like.

That is what travel & hospitality data covers, and a GetYourGuide-only engagement can be expanded into it without rebuilding. If you already know you need several platforms, start there instead — it is the same pipeline and usually the better scoping conversation.

FAQ

GetYourGuide data scraping: frequently asked questions

Platform-specific questions, including what cannot be collected here.

Because timeslots are sold separately. Different times of day can carry different prices, they sell out independently, and a morning departure being full says nothing about the afternoon.

An activity marked available may have only one usable departure left, which an activity-level record cannot express.

Because a guided tour in English and in Spanish is two separately bookable things with separate availability and frequently separate prices.

Treating language as an attribute of one listing collapses two products into one record.

On the same operator and activity, where identifiers allow it, yes. Across different operators, no — and we will not assert it.

Two walking tours of the same site with similar durations may differ in group size, guide language, entry inclusion and route. Asserting equivalence would produce a comparison that looks reasonable and is not.

Because the wording varies too much between operators to structure reliably without inventing categories. We capture the published text with inclusions_parsed: false.

A structured field built on guessed categories would look authoritative and be wrong in ways that are hard to detect.

No. We capture the message as displayed text and do not treat it as an inventory count. It is a merchandising signal.

Converting it into a capacity figure would turn marketing copy into data.

We quote individually. The grid is the driver: activities times dates times timeslots times price tiers times languages, which multiplies faster than most travel sources.

Most engagements scope a city and tier set rather than everything. One scoping call, a free pilot within 24 hours, then a fixed monthly quote. Request a quote.
